Leah Jones

Dance Team Director

Leah Jones has been dancing since of the age of five and has trained in the styles of ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, modern, hiphop, samba, afro and contemporary Brazilian. She has studied, performed and competed with various studios and conventions across Southern California including New West Ballet School, Georgia's School of Dance, San Marcos High School Varsity Dance Team, Unity II Dance Ensemble, Tremaine, SHARP, ShowStopper, CADTD, MDDT, USA, Millenium OC, Tropicaleiza Dance Company, Infuse Dance Collective and more. In 2013 she graduated from the University of California Irvine where she received her B.A. in Art History and in 2015 earned both Multiple Subject and Physical Education credentials. While earning her teaching credentials, Leah worked as a dance coach and choreographer at San Marcos High School. She has also worked as a choreographer with Streetlamp Studios, an L.A. based arts non-profit that brings to life the stories of inner-city youth. From 2015-2018, Leah founded a full time dance program and dance team at Landmark Middle School. In her spare time Leah can be found at the gym, Pilates class, painting, hiking or trying out a new vegan recipe. Leah is thrilled to return to her roots and share her love for dance with all the future generations.

Kendall Glassman

Kendall Glassman has been classically trained in ballet since age 5 with supplemental training in styles such as jazz, contemporary, lyrical, and hip hop. She began her early dance education at Starlight Dance Center in Palm Desert and has trained with and performed soloist and principal roles for New West Ballet and California Pacific Ballet Academy. Some of her favorite roles over the years have been Clara in The Nutcracker, the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Snow White in Magic Mirror, and The Crocodile in Peter Pan. Kendall is an alumni of the San Marcos Dance Program and was both a member and captain of the Varsity Dance Team. Since then, she graduated from San Diego State University in 2025 with a B.S. in Business and a minor in Dance, and has been a coach and choreographer for the San Marcos Dance Team and Program since 2022. In her teaching, Kendall encourages her students to always challenge themselves, remember their worth, and to dance with joy above all things.

Jackie goldberg

Dance Director & Color Guard Director

For the past 15 years, Jackie Goldberg has been the director of the San Marcos Color Guard, which has grown from a regional to a national group under her leadership. During her early years as a coach she earned her Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and most recently her Master’s in Education with a Emphasis in Social Emotional learning along with her teaching credential. In 2021 she became a full time member of the San Marcos High School faculty as a dance teacher in addition to her role as the Color Guard Director. Jackie is the current VAPA Team Lead and serves as a Vice President of the West Coast Winter Guard association. She looks forward to maintaining and expanding her relationships in the community and sharing her passion for the performing arts.

Cavalier Dance Coach

Yaretci Montes

Yaretci Montes experienced the joy of dance at the age of 4 at Edge Dance Academy. Where she trained for 14 years in a wide variety of styles, including jazz, contemporary, lyrical, jazz funk, musical theater, hiphop, tap, ballet, and ballroom. She was on the San Marcos Varsity Dance Team for 4 years and was Captain of the team her senior year. Currently she is attending Palomar College. Where she is studying human biology, while coaching at San Marcos and teaching at The Groove Academy. Yaretci hopes to share her love for dance with her team, and hopes to create a team environment where dancers feel confident, supported and inspired to push beyond their limits.
